Before you can use mini DVD player, you need 2 AAA batteries for remote control and USB charger. If you need USB charger, contact manufacturer to get a free one. From the attached photo, you notice that footprint of mini DVD is much smaller than that of standard DVD player. I verified that I can play DVD that is formatted for the European market. In my particular case, I use the HDMI connection to the TV. Note that you may need to try out each HDMI port of an older flat screen TV before you find one that works. I can play some but not all the AVI files in my collection on USB flash drive. This mini DVD player is definitely terrific value for the price.

I RECENTLY PURCHASED THIS ITEM SO I DONT KNOW HOW LONG IT MIGHT WORK GREATLY BUT THUS FAR I'M
LOVING IT, I HAVE IT ON A BED STAND BY ME AND I CAN LOOK AT TV, LISTEN TO MUSIC , BOOKS AND DVD MATERIAL WITHOUT HAVING TO HAVE THE TV ON. ITS SMALL AND TAKES UP HARDLY ANY SPACE. SO THUS FAR IM VERY HAPPY WITH THIS PRODUCT.
